In a historic consolidation of power for Myanmar’s Spring Revolution, Acting President Duwa Lashi La formally announced on Monday the establishment of the “Steering Council for the Emergence of a Federal Democratic Union” (SCEF).
The council, comprising Ethnic Revolutionary Organizations (EROs), pro-democracy forces, and public representatives, aims to accelerate the military defeat of the junta and coordinate a transitional government.
Acting President Duwa Lashi La characterized the council as a “strategic new step rooted in legitimacy, accountability, and unity.
” Built on the principle of collective leadership, its core mandates include the permanent exclusion of the military from politics, the definitive abolition of the 2008 Constitution, and the drafting of a new federal charter that reflects the genuine aspirations of all ethnic nationalities.
Acting President Duwa Lashi La emphasized that the council serves as a supreme coordinating body to synchronize military operations and strengthen political cohesion across the resistance. He asserted that federalism thrives on the strength of individual states and regions, pledging that the council’s roadmap would focus on local empowerment as a prerequisite for a resilient Union.
“We have formed this council based on a leadership spirit dedicated to serving the people,” he stated, reaffirming the goal of placing all armed forces under full civilian supremacy.
Furthermore, the SCFEFU is expected to implement transitional justice and institutional reforms even as the ongoing conflict persists. By fostering deep mutual trust among allies, the body seeks to transform diverse resistance units into a professionalized Federal Army governed by a unified political mandate.
The formation of the SCFEFU marks a definitive new chapter in the liberation of Myanmar by combining armed struggle with grassroots revolutionary tactics.
This institutionalization of the resistance is poised to consolidate political legitimacy and provide a clear, inclusive pathway toward a peaceful federal future.
